Two Oceans Aquarium

Cape Town Aquarium

At the aquarium you can experience the incredible diversity of the Indian and Atlantic Ocean at one of cities top tourist attractions, the Two Oceans Aquarium.

What Is There To do At The Two Oceans Aquarium?

The Cape Town aquarium isn’t just an under water exhibit, there are many things to see and do when visiting the Two Oceans aquarium.

  • I&J Ocean Exhibit – this huge tank which holds over 1.5 million liters of water offers unique viewing options with it’s huge viewing window of the 10 meter transparent tunnel where you can view beautiful rays, turtles and local indigenous fish that can be found in the Western Cape waters.
  • The Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Exhibit – This exhibit is probably the most anticipated in the entire aquarium as it houses our ragged tooth shark guests. As well as the ‘raggies there are giant cape yellowtail, yellowbelly rock cod, mullet and strepie and spotted grunters.
  • The Penguin Exhibit – Possibly the most fun exhibit at the aquarium and home to the African penguin and rescued rockhopper penguins. The exhibit offers a rocky shoreline and sandy beach show casing local indigenous fishes and vegetation.
  • Two Oceans Aquarium Dive School – The aquarium is recognised as an official PADI Dive Resort with a host of diving courses on offer from the beginner PADI Discover Scuba Diving through to the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. Diving in the aquarium offers a true once in a life time holiday experience!

A visit to the Two Oceans aquarium offers a once in a life time experience where you can view sea turtles, sharks, penguins, and jellyfish to name just a few of the many hundreds of animals that live at the aquarium. There are many marine animals that can only be found in South Africa – so be sure to take note of the varied displays.

The jelly gallery houses many species of Jelly fish that are housed in a unique and beautiful way. The room is cool and similar to the environment that the creatures are used to living and with subtle lighting the room gives off an eerie but cool glow – an amazing experience for all ages.

The aquarium is renowned for its kelp forest exhibit! There are only a few aquariums around the world that have living kelp forests – in Cape Town there are three species of kelp on display, this provides the perfect place to relax and watch the way the tall forests dance in the swaying waters.
