Here are a few useful tips for driving in Cape Town

• - When picking up your hire car ensure you have all emergency numbers
• - If involved in an accident - stay with your car and call for assistance
• - If in an accident do not let anyone tow your car unless they are authorised to
• - Drive on the left hand side of the road (same as the UK)
• - If you are lost, consult a map immediately
• - The speed limits are always clearly marked in KPH (kilometres per hour)
• - 100kph is roughly 60mph
• - If you are enjoying the view, keep to the left of the lane and let people over take you
• - There are many scenic drives normally with viewing points clearly marked
• - Take a drive over Chapmans Peak drive if open
• - Take a drive over Boyes Drive
• - Take a drive through Scarborough and Misty Cliffs
• - In most car parks there are car guards, a tip of R1 - R5 is normal
• - There are attendants who pump the petrol in all petrol stations a tip of R1 - R5 is normal
• - Be on the look out for sneaky mobile speed cameras
• - Rent a luxury/exotic/super car whilst in Cape Town
