- At traffic lights people will try to sell you everyday items (dusters, towels, rugs)

- South African national delicacies are boerewors rolls, biltong and droewors
- It is illegal to feed Baboons (there are lots on the roads around Cape Point)
- There are no wild lions or elephants in Cape town
- All snakes, spiders and scorpions should be treated with respect!
- Local mobile phone companies are Vodacom, MTN and CellC
- Capetonians often cook food on an open fire, this is called a braai
- The summer season (December – February) can often become very windy
