Cape Town is well known for its seafood, traditional African and Indian cuisine. Below we have listed our favorite places to eat-out in Cape Town. These are all definitely worth a try. We have tried to break them down into the three main meals of the day.
Breakfast in Cape Town
For breakfast you won't get better bacon and scrambled eggs than the Empire Cafe in Muizenberg. They also have an adventurous choice of delicious omelettes to try. This place is well worth a visit and very reasonably priced. If you are there early enough then head upstairs and sit close to the window for a beautiful view of False Bay and the local
surfers.
Another restaurant that does an excellent breakfast is Greens in Constantia. They use a croissant instead of bread for their French toast, which is absolutely delicious, which is then served with bacon and fresh berries. A wide variety of fried breakfasts are also on offer.
Lunch in Cape Town
A local favorite for lunch in the southern suburbs is Sostanza. Everything on their menu is scrumptious and worth a try. You really can't go wrong. A great lunch they offer is a traditional ploughman's lunch with an excellent selection of their unique baked breads. The chocolate and carrot cake should not be missed! All their meals have a lovely unique twist.
For a pizza and a beer the Red Herring in Noordehoek is sure to not dissapoint. The view from the look out deck is of the Atlantic Ocean with lovely views of the long Noordehoek beach. This place has a very relaxed atmosphere and is a local hang out for many
surfers.
Dinner in Cape Town
A well known restaurant, which serves the freshest seafood, is CTM, Cape Town fish market. Common things to find on the menu is a delicious stacked salmon, creamy mussles, calamari and a wide selection of sushi dishes. For a good taste of all the best and freshest seafoods in Cape Town then opt for one of the platters. Whilst CTFM is a chain restaurant, the one in Steenberg village has proven time and again to be the best!
Wang Thai in Constantia is arguably one of the best Thai restaurants in Cape Town. There is more than one Wang Thai in Cape Town, so you are likely to find one close to where you are staying. They do a variety of dishes and cater for all taste buds. Their starter platter for two has some traditional but tastey Thai classics followed with the roasted duck and litchi sauce followed with the unique Whang Thai sago pudding.
A quick bite in Cape Town
If you are in the southern suburbs and are looking for a place to grab a quick bite or beer, then The Brass Bell in Kalk Bay is a must. Their seafood is excellent and so are their pizzas. The restaurant is practically in the sea so the view is amazing.
