March 3rd marks the 99 day mark to the 2010 world cup to be held in South Africa.
The FIFA Local Organising Committee are currently on a "state of readiness" roadshow to all 2010 World Cup facilities in South Africa.
The Cape Town stadium has had a clean bill of health and was dubbed "It's just an amazing stadium, and all the teams who play in Cape Town, will play in a perfect place." by FIFA Secretary-General Jerome Valcke.
Around the city of Cape Town things are on track;
- The Cape Town stadium construction was started March 2007 and was completed and handed over Dec 2009 at a cost of R4.5bn
- Green Point common is due to be completed in March - the area will boast a nine hole golf course, several sport codes and public recreation areas
- A new airport terminal at the local Cape Town airport was opened in Nov 2009 at a cost of R1.6bn. Other projects included a new 5 storey parking lot, transport plaza and pedestrian walkways and subways - these are all on course to finished by the end of March
- R418m is being spent on upgrading Cape Town station installing new ticketing points and high tec access gates
- The IRT (intergrated rapid transport stations) are due to be finished by the end of April and will be located at the airport, civic centre and the Cape Town stadium. 43 new buses will also be deployed in phases up untill May
