Super 14 fixtures 2010 season
Cape Town is home to its very own world class rugby stadium (Newlands) and rugby team (The Stormers). The stadium was first built and first match played on the 31st May 1890 when Stellenbosch defeated Villagers in front of a crowd of just over 2,000 people. The stadiums current sponsor is the mobile phone company Vodacom, with the Stormers also being sponsored by Vodacom, the stadium is owned by WP Rugby (Western Province Rugby).
The Stormers play in the Super 14 rugby league, which has 4 teams from Australia, 5 teams from New Zealand and 5 teams from South Africa which sees the Newlands stadium host many matches through out the year. The future of the stadium remains uncertain due to the new stadium opening at Green Point for the
2010 World Cup, it has been mentioned that WP Rugby will sell Newlands and then move to Green Point Stadium after the World Cup.
