Clifton is regarded as one of the most exclusive places to live in Africa, this small tucked away haven by the ocean is home to the most expensive houses in Africa and one look at the view tells the story. Besides the mansions, Clifton is also famous for its 4 beaches each with something different to offer the casual sun bather, each of the four beaches are accessed via a steep walk down the mountain side.
1st beach always has a healthy amount of surfers in the water and many other sports and activities taking place on the beach. 2nd and 3rd beach are family friendly and very popular with Cape Towns young and trendy crowd. 4th beach is the perfect spot for the family, with toilets, changing rooms and the chance to rent sun loungers and umbrellas. 4th beach is also proud to have been awarded the world recognised blue flag for its clean, safe and family friendly atmosphere.
There are life gaurds on duty every day during the summer months and over the weekends, whilst this is a relatively safe spot, beware of strong under currents. The Atlantic is very cold no matter the weather!
Due to Clifton being a small sea side suburb there is very limited parking in the very busy summer months, where ever possible take a bus or see if a shuttle can be arranged from your local hotel.
